Hiking in two national parks of Hong Kong in hot and humid conditions

I reached Hong Kong at 6 am after a 22 hours flight from Toronto with a 2-1/2 hours of transit time at San Francisco Airport. I took Uber to Shangri-La, Kowloon at 8 am and hit the road at 10 am to reach the first Country (National) Park.

hiking on Eagle’s Nest Trail, Lion Rock Country Park

I hiked on the Eagle’s Nest Trail, Lion Rock Country Park on August 19, 2023. It was 40 C (with humidex) and my t-shirt was soaked in sweat. I found it difficult to breath. However, it was still worth it.

hiking in Golden Hill Country Park or Kam Shan Country Park

I hiked in Golden Hill Country Park or Kam Shan Country Park on August 20, 2023. It was 40 C (with humidex) and I ran out of water and two bottles of orange juice within two hours. I was still able to enjoy a pretty long walk and aborted only when it started to rain cats and dogs.

avenue of stars by the bay

I had a very good time in Hong Kong. I especially enjoyed Avenue of Stars by the Bay, which was about 5 minutes easy walk from my hotel. The Avenue of Stars pays homage to the leading Hong Kong film and theater artists, many of whom were recognized at the international level.

Hike through the Avenue of Stars by the Bay deserves a separate blog.

where to stay

Kowloon, HK has a number of excellent hotels, which were at 100% occupancy when I was there. This was due mainly to the tourists from Mainland China. I stayed at Shangri-La on Mody Road, which was close to Kowloon Bay, as well as the Museum of History and the Museum of Art. I was a frequent visitor to the three places during my 6 days stay in the country.
