March: K2 visits Niagara Falls as we admire landscapes, wildlife, and 180 degrees tourism.

K2, our Hungarian Kuvasz, visited Niagara Falls with us many times, at least once in each season – winter, spring, summer, and fall. However, this photo essay is about his first visit.

Both from the US and Canadian side, Niagara Falls offer jaw dropping picturesque scenery; falling a little short of pristine beauty; but still ethereal, gulls gliding over the rough waters deep down in the gorge, and nearby human activities. The whole area is ideal for taking your furry friends along, especially in late Fall, winter and early spring season when the human presence is low.

It was a beautiful sunny pre-COVID day of March 22, but it was still a very cold and a windy day as our heavy winter jackets indicate. K2 is wearing his doggy backpack with essential items in it.

The photos below appear in the order we walked.

Just upstream of it, K2 was captivated by the Horseshoe Falls. Imho, the falling waters of Niagara Falls take one into a state of trance.
Buildings at 180 degrees from the waterfalls.
Walking along the falls. There were few visitors.
Horseshoe Falls in its early spring glory.
K2 got curious about those “big dogs”.
Part of Horseshoe Falls with snow on the slopes.
On a small rock island deep in the gorge below, there was at least one greater black-backed gull among several ring-billed gulls.
K2 almost always got the attention everywhere he went, including these two visitors.
The weeping wall of the gorge.
